Need a new Steering lock for my GL1100. Can´t find one
Hi!
I have the old classic steering lock on my naked GL1100 -81, but the keys are missing. Is there any key number that can help me ge new keys, or, do i have to buy a new lock?
Found this links:
http://n-vdb.de/epages/bc527780-4511-46 ... alterungen
https://www.louis.eu/artikel/neiman-ste ... r=10001810
But not sure if non of them will fit my bike.
Anyone??
Best regards
MiKE

Isn't the steering lock part of the ignition lock system?

Maybe?CYBORG wrote:European model?????
The hole were the "lock bolt" is comming out from the ignition key lock, was covered with a plastic plug/cap on my old ignition lock. Hmm.
And there is nothing on the steering head that indicates that an "electrical" lock will function. My new ignition has a bolt that comes out, but i can't use that on mine so.

Since he is in Sweden I would say yes. There were a number of differences between US and Euro models. As you already know.

My previous bike, my XV 1100 Special virago, was an import from the US. Miles on the speedo etc. etc. From California.CYBORG wrote:I thought as much,...but a lot of bikes from the U.S. going that direction. Just checking

Locksmiths can do wonders. I was locked out of a running rental minivan a week ago. The lock guy had it open in 30 seconds. I would ride it to a locksmith and see.

Re: Need a new Steering lock for my GL1100. Can´t find one
A really good locksmith can cut a key for the existing lock cylinder. I had to do that once with a previous car of mine, lost the only key I had, and new ignition cylinders didn't exist for it. Dropped off the cylinder and a key blank, and I picked up a working key the next day.
1975 GL1000 - Delkevic exhaust with stainless studs, Corbin Touring seat, Race Tech Gold Valve cartridge emulators, Progressive 11-1100 springs, Progressive 412HD rear shocks, Shinko 230 tires, Fork Brace, Trucklite 27270c headlight, X-Arc Signals (run, brake, turn), Hydraulic Clutch conversion, EBC Clutch discs, HD springs, and Barnett Steels + Plate B eliminated. BikeMaster DLFP-50N18L Lithium battery, Rick's Motorsports CBR600F4 Mosfet Regulator/Rectifier upgrade.

You can also re key the cylinder for an existing key. You just need to cut the tumblers. All my gls us the same key lol
