Will this wheel fit the standard pre-antidive fork legs? I don't like this antidive and Im pretty sure it doesn't do anything lol

Not sure what you want to mount the wheel on, but the complete assembly, with the triple tree, will fit a 78 1000

The '83 wheel will fit with the earlier forks, but you will need the '82 brake caliper brackets, as they mount differently. On a side note, I really like how that fender hugs the tire. What is it from?

Mudguard is from eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-FRO ... SwxCxT9yPq

It was only resting on the tyre in the pic, but even now its fitted its a pretty close fit, about 10mm clearance. I thought Id have to get new caliber mounts, might use these brakes, might use better ones.

Properly operating, that TRAC anti-dive is actually pretty effective.

I retrofitted 83 forks and wheels (and engine) to my 82.
I did not replace the triple tree, so the tubes are the same size as 82 1100.

The brakes were a little bit of a challenge, but I did keep the 82 calipers since the 83's had 25mm and 32mm pistons if I recall correctly.

Yep, the '83 was the first year for linked brakes...

Dumbed down, it uses a pendulum-like principle "valve" that displaces when it feels deceleration force, engaging a damping port which restricts the forks ability to compress, resulting in significantly less fork dive when the front brakes are vigorously applied. That results in less weight transfer forward and helps keep the rear wheel from skidding (if that brake is properly applied).

It has 4 adjustment positions and #3 seems to be the sweet spot for me.

Although I didn't think I would like it, I like it on mine. You don't feel the front diving as much in a quick stop. With my 77, I feel like I'm going to go over the bars because it dips so much.

IIRC, when you hit the brake, the caliper assembly has a little play in it which rolls against a pin to engage the dampening port. Without good rubber bits and seals in this mechanism, they click upon activation but still work.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.
