Post by dstrat1 »

Guys, just finished getting my 78 running...and am noticing the front forks seem to pogo some, ie they chatter fore aft a bit instead of up and down as they should, i did use atf instead of regular fork oil could that be it,, also adjusted the head bearings as per manual but maybe should have been tighter...ideas? they work fine when applying the brakes, but on normal smooth road i see the pogo ing...

I've seen a little of that when the triple tree clamps to the fork are not tight. Easy to check

The atf is not the problem, most use it and honda recommended it.

Forks ARE supposed to move up and down when riding. To much can be weak springs

I think what he's describing is worn out bushings inside the fork lowers.

Did you take the forks apart?
