here the leak was..........
After the weld had to rinse the tank with water so I put it in the oven to heat/dry out the moisture before lining the tank....
Looking good much better than my old tank..................Bye GWPete.

I'm assuming you put it in the oven when your wife wasn't home. :-D

The other day I had painted some pieces and the next morning I woke up about 2 hrs before my wife did and decided that was the perfect time to put the pieces in the oven to cure the paint, it was all done by the time she woke up but the moment she walked into the kitchen she said "what's that smell?" ..... ooops.

At that point you say,

1. What smell?

2. It's outside

Or if you're feeling really brave

3. It must have been some food you burnt when you last used the oven! :IDTS:

Next time put some garlic in the oven to mask any smells!

I told my wife that smell was my special recipe ...... she didn't believe me. She let me slide anyhow because the painted parts in question were for her bike.

I weld on fuel tanks all the time. They only go BOOM once.. then you can easily weld the pieces back together

Believe me, she puts up with me enough as it is and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty if I need an extra hand. Years ago I read a tip about cleaning carbs in boiling lemon juice so I gave it a try, it actually worked to a degree but I really wouldn't recommend it. All I can say is the smell of that boiling lemon juice along with just a tad of carb cleaner still possibly lingering in the carbs stunk up the entire house. I've got an ultra sonic cleaner now. ;)

Ya know it dawned on me that I've hijacked this thread enough so in regards to GWPete I think your welds look pretty good.
