Newbie in Iowa!
Hey All! Joined in October when I bought my 1977 GL1000 Standard. Looking to get it de-Vettered and running by spring. It had sat for several years and don't have it running yet! I normally collect 70's KZ Kawasaki's, but bought my Wing to compliment my 2002 Road King for traveling adventure! Looking forward to a ride if one gets scheduled and the mechanical gods allow me to get it running! I've got a number of other projects currently in the cue in front of it!

MBS wouldn't be Multiple Bike Syndrome would it? I have an illness and the only relief is motorcycle procurement!

Re: Newbie in Iowa!
Hey CYBORG! My Plan is to de-Vetter and get it running for now. I want to use it for day trips. Long run, some sort of a cafe fairing (EMGO makes an acceptable cheap one), maybe a nice paint (although the paint is pretty nice now, just don't like the 70's pinstriping). Maybe some saddlebags (Although my Road King will remain my weekend/long trip bike). Just get it back to being a good rider/commuter.

Re: Newbie in Iowa!
I keep looking at my Wing sitting in the corner waiting for me to start.:
I thought after I got this Nighthawk tuned/cleaned up (bought for resale from an estate along with a CM200t), I would get to her.:
But fate/luck intervenes again! I picked up a 1978 KZ1000A2 to work on. It will keep me occupied for awhile! On the back burner again!:

Re: Newbie in Iowa!
Well Neil, your mild brow-beating convinced me to move the Wing to the top of the que! My KZ1000 is going to be a very long term project that I do not need on the road by spring. I would like to be riding the Wing as soon as possible! So, I moved it to the work area in my shop (10 feet forward) and put the 1975 GL1000 parts bike (no title) where the 77 had been sitting.:
I rescued the 75 from a Missouri cycle graveyard soon after getting the 77!:
Before anyone asks, all the bikes were sold within a few days of the ad on Craigslist (He sold them way too cheap! And the 78 in the picture had been already purchased!).
