New Owner from Colorado

#1

Post by pjgoeman »

I've been looking for a project and just bought a 1976 GL1000. Not sure how many miles on it because the speedometer has been replaced with a used blue faced meter. The owner was deceased so not much info on it but it was last registered in 1985. This is going to take awhile.

I've been researching and this forum will be invaluable so thanks for all your help.

Welcome to the 'Wingdom.

Shoptalk is very helpful, also Randakk's website on bringing back an old bike.

Put timing belts at the top of your list.

Thanks for the "Welcomes". I've been studying the bike and learning more about it. I picked up a copy of the Honda service manual which has already been a big help. The bike is complete but there is some frame damage which I knew about going in but the price was only $300 so I felt like if I could always recoup my investment if necessary. I've started looking for a titled frame so I'll see how that goes.

The frame is bent in the tail section, under the seat. The gas tank is also damaged. I'm also working on increasing my post count so I can get full access to the site.

Hi Pete, 300 bucks buy in is nice and low I agree. Your tank probably needs to come out anyway to
clean If it's sound. Hope the frame is OK. Keep going.
