I will not mention my first attempt where I just assumed the red wire is live and the black wire is earth. After studying the wiring diagram for hours I figured out my mistake and I got the clocks to come on. However they only came on with the ignition key in Park position. Not very practical for riding!

I did some homework and found a colour wiring diagram on the net. That has certainly helped to trace a wire from start to finish. I kept ending up at the wrong place with the black and white copy of the maze published in the manual confused22

I currently have five of the 300 wires correct, and some life in the clocks.

I already have a VDO needle water temp gauge on order, the digital one I have now doesn't look as good as I thought it might.
i had the dilemma of the gauge not mounting right. you mentioned you modified the acewell mount a little.
can you show me what you did? thanks!

Hoo Boy Deathbypizza, you are asking me about something I did back in 2015, when remembering what I had for breakfast this morning is already a tall order...

My Acewell doesn't show temperature, unlike yours. I had to fit a separate temperature gauge and I wanted the bevels to be at the same height. I bent the supplied Acewell mounting plate in a flat 'Z' to get the Acewell to sit a bit higher. I think I drilled the mounting hole in the plate a bit bigger too and bolted it to one of the existing mounting holes in the top yoke where the original cluster went. I used a stainless allen bolt and dome nut.

I'm not sure what problem you are having?

ha ha i know, i was having trouble getting the mount they sold me to work, and the stock mount on the acewell to work. then i remember you had it and i hunted for the post haha. you are referring to bending the bracket that is screwed onto the back with 3 little screws right? in the mean time here is the front view of my bike i mocked up today. honestly been taking a lot of inspiration from your build. if its possible to send me a photo of the bracket itself that would rule!

i put the new choke in the old spot whre the cluster would have went on the right. drilled it out a bit and got it to fit!

Mine are aftermarket bars that happened to be on special and I bought them on the spur of the moment. They were rated as 'superbike' bars and ended up working very well for me. Not as low as typical cafe racer bars so tank clearance and comfort are not an issue.

I will be absent here for a while.

My father passed away late yesterday afternoon. He recovered from a major stroke last year, but the extra time was only given as a gift for us all to say our farewells. His health deteriorated rapidly this year. He passed away gently in his sleep at home where he wanted to be, as did we all, in the presence of my Mother and my two brothers who also live in Cape Town.

He was a remarkable man, and many will miss him.
