Turn out has been fantastic! So far 38 have booked rooms and attending. Only 5 rooms left (double occupancy) so 10 more can come. If you want a roomie (pays 1/2) send me a PM. Don't miss out on a great ride. The NE ride is known for the best ride in the US... yes it really is!

All bikes welcome! Even if you don't ride a Honda anim-cheers1

Geez Louise, Brian!

For me, 38 is a huge number of folks to process to ride with.

Typically, I ride by myself, or 1 other guy- occasionally.

The most fellows and their GL bikes I've had the great pleasure to ride with at one time is, if my memory serves me correctly from last June in Paris, Ontario, was 4. (Ascot, Rat, Sandy, and millwright). All of them Very attentive to a comfortable riding experience, And, they paid strict attention to posted speed limits, too. ;)

I like to ride at the rear of the group. I'm almost 68 and doubt I have the reaction time for an emergency stop in a large group excursion. The prospect of threading my trike through a jam is a fearsome thought.

How does your club maintain a safe and orderly large group riding experience?

Getting left too far behind in stop and go traffic situations, to find my way back to the group is also a concern. (My buddy Ralph, riding his Road King, got aggravated with me on our trip to Paris in 2015 because I had no experience riding in congested high speed Friday afternoon QEW traffic, etc.) My hesitation to pass through, with him, at 4 way stop intersections was his biggest beef.
But, he had been a "Road Captain" in a HOG group for several years, and usually 3 or 4 bikes at a time would proceed through a stop sign controlled intersection, together. I got the idea after he explained that to me. ;)

anyway......

I would presume smaller groups, with similar riding skills and bikes to match their profile is the usual solution?

Cliff, I thought the same thing on my first ride.

We actually learned through the years how to handle this number. Typically the group splits into three groups. The first who like to go fast, the second who like to go slower and, the third is our group - the slow one. I ride dead last! There are riders in each group who act as "leader" and being last, I round up any stragglers. Riders don't get separated or lost - unless they want to.

Trust me, you won't have any problem in the ride. Many on the ride are in their 60s, 70s and 80s! You will however have tons of fun! You will be riding in a small group.

Brian,

With that reassurance in place, I feel much better about my participation in the CB group's NE Spring Ride now. tumb2

I don't mind riding reasonably fast (60s), where the surrounding conditions are suited for it.

I presume the Ox will be there, too? ;)
