Well then, you made some good investments. Now for the labor to make it all worthwhile.

Just for the heck of it I pulled the seat out and took the cover off, the cover is not ripped, the stitching around the front of the seat has come apart so I will see if it could get re-stitched. since the seat was dirty underneath I put it in the tub with some cleaner with hot water and let it soak over night.(wife not happy lol) but I have done worse.

Is that a standard 81 seat? Those get pretty good reviews and they look nice too. So then it would be great to repair it if you can.

It looks like the seat on the pic in this link. Not sure if it is a standard seat or some other Goldwing seat

Just got back from the car seat upholstery place, as I expected they would not sew it, but they would make a new cover for $350. Looks like I am buying a cover.

The post office just dropped my new timing belts from rockauto and the randakk carb kit.

Well I had some time this morning and I worked on the carbs, I had cleaned them over a year ago but I did not split them apart. This morning I did that. The screws holding the plentium came out fine with a no 3 screw driver. Now I know why the screen was not in the plentium it was cut out around the screws, also the screw heads holding the carbs to the plentium were stripped out, I pulled out the drill and a 1/4 inch bit. I had to stuff rags in the carbs to keep metal from falling into the carbs. I started drilling the heads off and my wife said "why don't I hold the vacuum where you are drilling to keep the chips from falling in". Wait a minute my wife was going to help me work on the bike? So I said good idea sure lets try it! (But this is the woman that spends 2 hours on her hair and nails and what ever so I am a little astonished  that she would offer.) But we/I drilled out 3 screws while she held the vacuum closely. I/we took the carbs off and vice grips pulled the studs out. She said to me "If I can help you with anything else just let me know" :-D So that's all for today it's party time!

That is a gal I would take to dinner tonight someplace special. Way cool. The seat expense seems extreme, perhaps that place has too much business already. Seems like sewing your cover is a $40 max job.
