1978 GL 1000 "The Tank" Resoration Project is COMPLETE

#1

Post by shieldsm »

After almost 18 months of blood, sweat, and tears, the bike is finished.

I want to thank everyone on this sight and all the great companies out there that have made this a reality. If you have been following my progress, I started with a rusty barn find with absolutly no motorycle mechanical experience to an end-result I can be proud of. It not only looks good but it runs with purpose which was my real intent.

Now its time to Ride!!

Nice work. What did you do to you headers, paint or ceramic?
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

My build thread is titled the same as the subject line.

I painted the headers then wrapped it with exhaust wrap. Those black header covers are the original chrome ones byt powder coated.

Ahhh, that build thread!

I used to be subscribed to that one ... back in the old days. Don't know how I got unlisted and I guess I'll have to read up on what I missed.

That came out really well and it's good to here it runs well.

Regarding the name "Tank" though...what ya got there looks more like a P-40 Warhawk or more recently, the tank bustin' A-10 Warthog. It's kinda like an anti-tank bike.
