Any Wingers near SW Idaho (willing to lend a hand)?

#1

Post by Lucien Harpress »

Here's my connumdrum. I'm looking at a bike in Idaho, one I've wanted for years, for a price I can't pass up. Thing is, I'm in Michigan. I talked to him over the phone, and while he still had the bike, I could tell he wasn't crazy about dealing with somebody halfway across the country. I left my info and he said he'd think about it, but just in case it's a no-go, are there any locals who might be able to help me out? Deal with the guy face to face, then hold on to the bike while I arranged to have it shipped to MI (which I planned to do anyway)? I'd pay for all of it, there'd just be the question of arranging logistics.

Hopefully I won't need the help, but in case I do, I figure I d throw it out there. Thanks.

I know how to pick 'em, don't I! :IDTS:

I put something up on the facebook site. Managed to find somebody who lives in Walla Walla (with a friend in Boise) to, at the very least, take a look at it and make sure it's not a scam. More than that? We shall see, I suppose.

1980 KZ1300. Condition look good from photos, and all the hard-to-find bits (blinkers, lights, airbox sidecovers (separate from actual sidecovers. Yes, it had those), stock seat pan) are there. Still has the stock exhaust, AND in good condition. Heck, it's even the right COLOR! For a lot less than I've seen other places.

I live in Boise. The fly in the ointment, I'm leaving town tomorrow and won't return until late Monday evening. If I could help when I return, I would be happy to help a brother! I'll send a pm.

I've (tentatively) got a few people lined up (gonna call Terry here in a few), all looking like for next week sometime. Hopefully the bike remains unsold until then.

This is gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG weekend...

I Picked the bike up today. It's sitting on my trailer awaiting shipment which will be in a couple days. I'm Glad to be able to help. The PO stated that he wouldn't have dealt with anyone through the internet. LH sat everything up and things went like clockwork. I'll get some pictures tomorrow. I know things don't happen unless there's pictures to show it.

That's great news, I know how stressful it is when a big purchase involving something
like this is. That bike is much more than just transportation for sure. Now L H can rest
knowing the bike is a done deal. Can't wait to see the pics.

OOooo believe me, I'm not going to rest easy until this bike is sitting in my driveway! :)

Still, Terry went above and beyond with this one. A+ kind of guy.

(Now I get the fun job of dealing with a shipping company... joy.)
