Used the Harbor Freight Ultrasonic cleaner (very small) but cheap and Simple Green Heavy Duty mixed three parts water to one part SG and it worked rather well. Also did the fuel sender that was pretty rusty and it did a good job on that as well. Did not remove all the rust but it works correct not.
Thanks everyone for your replies.

Laphroaig is the only scotch that I add water to. Just a few drops and it really opens up.

A South African guy who had emigrated to England and runs a country house hotel turned me on to single malts about 30 years ago.

Some single malts are better than others but I have never had a bad single malt.

I use "Awesome" cleaner in the ultrasonic and IMO the carbs should always be torn down with all the rubber and brass bits removed.
Awesome will not damage or discolour aluminum and over the past dozen years I have owned an ultrasonic cleaner it has been the best carb cleaner chemical for the money I have found to clean carb bodies and internal parts. Its available I believe in the cleaner aisle of some Dollarama discount stores here in Canada and should be widely available throughout the USA.

No scotch recommendations though as its too expensive to use in my Ultrasonic cleaner. :guitar

Simple green is amazing stuff as I have used gallons over the past few decades. I used to live a few miles from corporate offices in the coast and the story caught my eye. I can attest to the etching ability on soft metals if not diluted. There are suggestions for dilution on the package. It’s kind of like a haircut....we can always take more off if it to long.

I've used Simple Green and Awesome both with great results.

I drink Jack Daniel's black label neat. Always a bottle between my Lazy chair and my guitar stand. :guitar
