need shorter cables

#1

Post by tdmarthur »

With the narrower and shorter standard handle bars I have installed I need shorter throttle cables and shorter clutch cable. I have spent about an hour being very creative with routing options but failed to get a smooth clutch pull because of too many bends. Cable about 10 inches shorter would probably do.

Found a guy localy that will shorten my existing cables the required 8 inches to fit my shorter handle bars.

Moved this to Tech Discussions.

Seems you've solved your own problem.

With the Weber installed I have too long of cables also, but it isn't that big of a problem unless I remove the Vetter. I just run the throttle cables out past the headlight nacelle and back in. The choke was re-routed under the left Faux tank panel and through the panel mounting to the choke on the Weber, which is on the back of the Weber about six inches higher and more toward the center than it was. This routing prevents binding of the choke cable and premature wear. :P

shorter cables

I am going to face that very thing on INFERNO. I am using Honda cb750 bars that are much shorter. I would think that cb750 cables would be short enough to work.
