Ok, bit of a stumper here,
I think that my headlight switch is conking out, but I get wierd symptoms. With the bar control OFF the bars, I get normal function on the low beam (high beam still out, RLU compensating)
with the controls ON the bar, I get RLU failure compensation on both LOW and HIGH beams.
the bars were replaced recently, but I did not check function of the lights before swapping bars.
This is on a 76, with the wires inside the bars. (what a PITA to get through)
has this happened to others before? did I knacker the wiring when I resnaked the wires? Is there a 5c solution to this problem?

Re: headlight woes
I think the switch housing needs to ground on the bars, so make sure the locating pin is touching bare metal and try remounting.

Re: headlight woes
I get the fault when the pin is in position. I can also replicate the fault if I twist the control around. Methinks the wiring is going south..... has all the hallmarks of a pinched wire, looking like right at the handlebar penetration point.....
