Re: Adding some horses...
Has anyone got any experience with Web Cams in their 'wing? Any real dyno numbers?
They're out there...

And they're not cheap.
$385 and it's just a regrind. Same .380 max lift, too.

The bike is essentially just another bike... The pilot is CRAZY.

Re: Adding some horses...
I have Web cams in my Vulcan. No dyno numbers but it runs stronger than stock. They moved the power band up though.
I called one of the regrind companies (might have been Megacycle) and there grind moved the power band up high as well. "Not advised for street use" is what I was told. That may just be an idle issue.

No, it's probably just a low end performance issue. My race bikes will idle for a long time. Lumpy, but idle. Depending on how lobes and duration are ground on to the cam you can lose a lot of low end power. Even midrange can go away. So you are ridingthe bike at higher RPM all the time. This of course is hard on the crank, rods, bearings. See where this is going?gregforesi wrote:snip.......... "Not advised for street use" is what I was told. That may just be an idle issue.
The way the center lines are ground also makes a difference. Thats the bad part about a single cam engine. On dual cams you can move both cams around. Which means you can move the powerband around. With a single cam you have to specify when it is ground. So you better be right the first time.

Robin, can you briefly explain that statement, please?robin1731 wrote:snip... One other thing. On the street torque is much more important the horse power. Especially on a bike/rider combo over 750-800lbs. So now you start all over.

Torque is what moves you. So the more torque you at lower rpm the quicker you can accelerate. More useful on the street. Horsepower is made more in the upper RPM range. Try to make too much HP and you loose torque down at the lower RPM. Right where you need it the most on the street.
