For Pistol Pete

Post by 77Gowing »

For some reason I had the following missive hang up in my outbox back in Sept. So this is why I'm posting here.
Thanks

Hi PP!
About two years ago you rebuilt my carbs for my basket case GL. I got her running on the stand and she ran beautifully. I am still in the process of putting her back together after a year and a half hiatus. Anyway, this May I went to start her and found I had an ignition problem and my gas was near two years old (had treated it with Marine Stabil though). Well I drained the gas in May, and I have been sloooooowly working on my build. I will not ride this till spring 2016 as winter approaches and I don't have a MC endorsement and won''t till I take the safety course in the spring. I drained my tank in May and have not added any new fuel. Should I top off the tank with new treated fuel for the winter? BTW, I drained the bowls in May also.

Thanks,

Kenny 77Gowing

If they are drained now they are fine. Filling them with more chemicals can only result in a poor experience for you. They are probably already clogged up with gunk, since you let them sit with "treated fuel" so long, so doing the same thing again is not what I would advise.
