I took a pretty long break from the gauge project. I found a salvage set of gauges and indicator housing, on HIGHSHIPPINGCOST BAY. Figured I had better get a backup setup incase I don't get the custom setup done in time for riding season. I know I would like to clean up the handlebar area. Probably just run one gauge. Most likely keep the speedometer the small bar graphs and all the led dots as indicators. I just imagined my speedometer as a bar graph. So now I may be off on another tangent...... this project may never end.

Looking good. Are all those trim pots for adjusting you resistance levels on the volage divider?

Yes. It's crude. I'm pretty sure it doesn't follow the examples from the manufacturer. But I needed something I could recalibrate when it's on the bike. For that matter the v ref and v out are both connected and going to the last two resistors, they are chained out to ground in a way that doesn't make sense to me, but it works. I'm not so accurate with the maths so I need something where I can dial in the lights until they line up where I want them to. The thermostat housing needs seals replaced, so I might take out the temp sensor and boil it while dialing in the gauge.

Wow. Did I ever give up on this project. If I move this any further it will probably be completed with a small Arduino and some code.

Digging up a dead thread due to search finding it. I'm looking to replace the fuel meter on one of my GL1000s with an LED bar graph. Will probably run on 12 volts as I will be replacing the temp gauge with an off-the-shelf unit (I've already made an adapter for its sensor). Plan to use the original level sender and ~250 ohms to replace the gauge resistance (generating a volgage difference at the junction). I've built LED VU meters years (decades) ago, and plan to use LM339 comparators with calibration pots to set each threshold as gas is added to the tank. I'll make up a dummy sender for initial testing. I'll start a new thread on it soon.
