I will bypass the ballast for now and see what I get. I got the higher resistance coils planning to use the martek ignition, but after looking at the wiring etc decided against it. Might revisit an electronic ignition at a later date so the coils should be fine then. I will report back.
Also I'm going to check everything according to the helpful link whiskerfish posted earlier in the thread.

Bypassed ballast on the coils. Switch on I have 12+ volts. Cranking at 10+ v now. I think it might work. Thanks for the help
