As told, I am looking for a LTD, you've got the highest LTD populalion here in the US I guess.
Are there LTD's with standatd GL1000 K1 engines around as well? If so, are they as valuable as the real ones?

Yes we have the majority of the 76 LTD's in the world. Yes they are highly valuable as compared to other GL1000's. Every couple of years you hear about one that someone found still in a crate and never assembled. Last one I read about sold for 23,000 USD if I remember correctly. Average daily rider LTD's can generally be had for the 2,000-4,000 range. Some nice restored models go for 4-6 thousand.

According to the VIN chart on Randakk's Cycle Shakk site, the frame serial numbers and the engine serial numbers are definitely different between an LTD and a non-LTD bike/engine. So if you have an LTD with a correct frame serial number, but not a correct LTD engine serial number, you know there has been an engine swap at some point. If it were an excellent condition or show-quality bike I would expect to pay much less for an LTD with a non-LTD engine in it. If it were in daily rider condition, I don't think it would matter that much unless you plan to fully restore it at some point.

Here's the page with the chart on it:

Here's a picture of my numbers-matching example. I'm just about done with the reconditioning at this point. Rides like new!

WingMan71 thank you for your thoughts. Your bike is top notch.
LTDs over here are a bit more expensive than in the US and pretty rare. That particular bike
is about $7700 with original paint an otherwise good but not excellent condition, another restored one with repainted panels, brown seat  , and much gold painting (forks  ) is about the same.

Yes, exactly!

That chart on Randakk's site is worth printing out and keeping on file. Here's the link again:
