Aluminum repair

#1

Post by BikeMaine »

Maybe this has been discussed already, but I just watched an interesting video on Facebook. Video is on this website.
https://www.aluminumrepair.com/

I don't work for them or anything, but if the stuff is as good as this video shows, it's good stuff.

Pretty sure it's better now. I tried it 20 or 30 years ago and it sucked. But my son, who is a body man, brought some of the new stuff over and it worked great! He was so impressed he had to come over and demonstrate. But I don't know the name brand of the stuff he had.

There are mixed reviews on this. I also remember using something similar about 30 years ago and was not impressed. These rods are advertised as being a later generation so they might be useful. The brand is availiable on eBay at lesser quantities than a pound. I may buy a few rods to try.

I ordered some rods earlier today. I don't have any projects that need them now, but I do have some 1/4" aluminum plate and some 2" tubing 1/4" wall that I'll try some fillet and butt joints on. I'll give a report on the results next week.

Has anyone tested this yet. I'm considering trying it but thought I would wait to see if anyone else had already tried it before I pull the trigger. I have a few projects I would like to use it on if it is what they are claiming. I not I'll have to make arrangements for a tig to do a few small jobs.

Why not try it? You could be the first and report back.
