I used springs I had laying around in the shop. I think they were clutch springs but really not sure. My fairing is probably a 25 pound load and even fresh springs wanted to sag a bit under it so I added the extras. Now 60-70,000 miles later and I have noticed it is not rebounding fully at stops. I can feel it lift to the full rebound when I start moving again so might be time to reexamine it.

About thirty years ago I read an article in a bike mag in which the author recommended a volkswagen valve spring to stiffen up the goldwing front end....

Hate to admit it, but I have no idea about the feel of my two bikes when I ride them as far as the springs go. I am ignorant on this subject completely. As far as I know they ride just fine but being new to biking ...how would I know? The Indian is much more nibble than my wing but it sits much lower and is quite a bit lighter and has more power. I feel kind of foolish but there it is guys. Here is chance to teach me something. Don't be shy and don't be worried about being blunt. I look forward to what this forum can teach me. I would no have a ride-able GW if it weren't for you guys. BTW, sorry for the highjack.

Here's a bit of detail. I weigh 350 lbs so I suspect sprangs are very important.
