Goldwing colour
Hi all, I have been looking at possibly buying this GL1000 which doesn't seem to have a standard colour. It has "ghost" flames on top of the side covers and the owner tells me he has seen a few in this colour so believes it to be an original Honda colour, but its not listed in any of the information I can find on these bikes. Would any of you guys know anything about it, please?

Re: Goldwing colour
NOT Original at least not for the US Spec. There were differences between the US and the European spec but I do not believe color was one of them. 78 came in Blue, Maroon, and Black.

I would rather keep the information on this bike to myself until I either buy this or a different one if you don't mind.

I have no problem with that. I usually won't even tell someone what I paid for something after I own it. I also won't ask anyone what they paid.CYBORG wrote:I get it. But he hasn't bought it yet, so your point it moot.robin1731 wrote:I have no problem with that. I usually won't even tell someone what I paid for something after I own it. I also won't ask anyone what they paid.CYBORG wrote:I get it. You found it,...you deserve first right of refusal.SnoBrdr wrote:

......I won't mind advising the value after I have either bought it or left it.
But this is really getting away from my original question!
Can anyone advise if this GL1000 could have come from the factory in this colour as a SPECIAL order or promotion possibly??? Has anyone seen other GL1000s in this colour

Re: Goldwing colour
It's not a stock colour, not something that Honda themselves would do. A dealer may have repainted it at new but that's doubtful. After 42 years, it's difficult to point a finger at whomever instigated the change but I would suggest that someone in the bikes chain of ownership had a liking for this colour.
I've painted lots of bikes back in the 70's and 80's and very rarely went close to stock as the paint codes were not available in the normal channels.

Re: Goldwing colour
interesting that the mufflers are black. on the 78/9's the mufflers are all chrome... so those have been painted
