Bend of Seat Cross Plate 1977 GL Seat

#1

Post by OldRider2 »

I'm trying to put the original seat on my 1977 GL1000 and I can't seem to get the front seat "tang" under the seat cross plate that bolts to the frame and holds the front of the seat down. I'm wondering before I go to far if the top of the "seat cross plate", (Item #3 on the frame parts diagram), straight or is bent down in the middle?

I hope this picture shows how my cross plate is bent down in the middle.

Should be straight. Yours is not, obviously. ;)

That's what I was hoping was the problem. Thanks Robin!

The bent cross plate was definitely the problem, after straightening the seat is tight but fits fine now.
