I’ve never heard of this. Is this a thing? Sounds like a reasonable solution. I’d be afraid of it coming loose. And how much did you scuff up the surface to make sure it stuck?

I just cleaned it. It’s obviously from a nincompoop who wasn’t very careful with something to ding it. (Referring to myself) I bought a piece of 12” plate glass 1/2” thick with 400 grit glued to it and tossed it around for a while to reduce the imprint, but you have to be careful doing it. Glass still bows/bends, so be careful, pressure evenly on the block portion only. Like yours mine was in the aluminum portion. It has to be a weak point, but the gasket seems to keep it so far. Yours may be shallow enough to sand out as described. Or it may be shallow enough to ignore.

As far as roughing it up, none. It is basically a trapped piece, but it also gets pretty warm and JBWeld breaks down at fairly low temps.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.
