Oil coming from Headers

#1

Post by codyjames707 »

Hey guys!

I've never had this issue before, taken the bike out for about 200+ miles and it's worked fine. Started the bike up to let it run for a few minutes and a bunch of white smoke starts coming out of the left tail pipe and some visible oil drops can be seen on the ground.

After taking the headers off, I was able to see that the oil was coming out of only ONE part of the manifold, which was the front, the rear manifold seems perfect.

Any idea what could be causing the leak?? I really don't feel like riding the bike to a shop with smoke billowing out the entire ride! lol

Most common leak there is the valve cover, then the cam seals. Removing belt covers will tell you quickly. After that, more rarely, head gaskets, and least likely is a crack in the head itself.

Wipe and spray it clean and start looking.

You certain it is not fuel mixed with carbon from the exhaust? Check your intake plenum and make sure there is no fuel pooling in the bottom. A flooded carb will throw white smoke. Just a possibility to check.
