For the 78-79 model years, can anyone tell me if the decals are different for the UK or European bikes than they are for the USA?
I purchased a repro set from a UK supplier who is claiming that they are slightly different for USA than for the UK versions.
For instance, on my OEM bike stripes, the dual stripes has the wide stripe on top of the narrower inner stripe (on my USA version bike) on every single dual stripe. But, on the repro set I purchased, the decal around the HONDA logo (Inner two stripe decal) is like mine, but the outer perimeter stripe has the two pin stripes inverted, with the narrow one on top of the wider one. What this means, is the two dual-stripe decals have the large stripe next to each other. I hope that makes sense.
There are a couple of other differences in these repro stripes that are harder to describe, but it has to do with which stripe tapers off at the end over the other.
I am wanting to call BS on the vendor, but before I open my mouth and call someone out, I want to make sure I don't end up embarrassed. Therefore, I want to do my homework first.
The seller has offered to refund my money plus shipping, but mentioned that "this is the first time we've had any complaints". Apparently, the devil is in the details for a very select few of us restorers.

Hmm. Not sure about UK/USA differences, but here's a snap from my '79 faux tank, with what I "believe" to be original paint and stripes. I will say that I don't know the full history of the bike...

Hmm... How interesting. That's nothing like mine.
So I started looking on the web for these panels. It appears Honda used at least two different designs that are especially notable at the terminating ends of the panels. One where each line dies off separately, and one where they join forming a spear-like termination.

I have no idea what's correct, but my first thought is this is maybe how Honda differentiated the two model years.
