WIRING - HELP

#1

Post by Tanman »

Hi all ,
Its been a while since I added a post but me an betty (1976 GL1000) had a falling out during the engine rebuild. Now all is forgiven and rebuilt engine back in the frame and getting excited now about a potential restart some time soon. However, the fall out was two year ago and I cannot find a home for a 6 wire connector that comes
from the headlamp . See attached photo.
So I have six wires all of which come from the head lamp shell and end up with the connector is the photo. But where does it connect ?

Looked and looked and then looked again but just cant find a home for it. It obviously feeds the headlamp because that not working at the moment.
So please someone put me out of my misery and tell me where it ends up in the wiring loop ?

Thanks ,

Numpty Paul

I might be mistaken (I'm not that experienced with the 1000's), but that doesn't look like a stock Honda plug. Did the bike have a fairing previously? Most aftermarket fairings use their own sub - harness that is added to the bike's existing wiring, sometimes by cutting and hard wiring it in. Also, a pic or list of the wire colors involved might help identify them.

Yep. Looks like a Vetter connector.

I believe it can be tucked in for future use without affecting stock harness.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

The bike was originally fitted with a Vetter fairing but this was removed from the bike before I purchased her so explains the odd connectors.

I knew you guys would know. Just didn't want to cut or remove anything before I was certain. Thanks for the quick replies .

Will see if we can breath new life into the old girl before the end of 2018.

Thanks again ,

If the Vetter was an aftermarket add on,there should have been a bag or box that between the forks where the original headlight would have been.
If it is still there then you can simply unplug the sub harness from the main and have all the stock connectors available.
