The "new to me" 08 1800 came with these fancy dancy Centramatic things. Never been on a bike so smooth.

Yea not something I would have ever bought for myself. Actually I think it is SS Balls not lead shot.
On the 1000's I have always just used 2 jack stands and the existing axle to do my balancing. Spin it let it coast to a stop, find the pattern and add weight to the high side till there is no more pattern. Works good last long time and cheap!

That's basically what I did before I learned about putting the balance mark on the tire next to the valve stem. And a half a dozen times afterward until I confirmed that I didn't need to add weights anymore.
