Any images or diagrams of a CUTAWAY for '83 GL1100i mufflers

#1

Post by Schick »

I searched quite a bit but could not find images of the cross section or cutaway of the exhaust for an '83 GL1100i muffler.

I am curious what it looks like inside if split lengthwise down the middle. I only have one set of mufflers/exhaust for mine, and cutting them, just to look, is of course crazy. If I had an old spare rusty set, I would split one in no time, just to see how these things work.

Any images or diagrams out there? Silly request?

I'm getting an old rusty muffler for my '70 CB750 from a sohc4 member so I can do exactly that. My object is to build new mufflers with the same characteristics as the original. Not silly at all.

I just put a set of Emgo reverse megaphones on my GL1000. Very happy with the exhaust note, just a touch louder than stock.
Came with adapters, was a fairly easy install.

I am confused. These look like the standard exhausts. Am I missing something?

A Google search for "motorcycle muffler cross-section" yields a variety of images, but none for a GoldWing. Pretty informative, though.
