Bench sync
Would anyone know approximately what size drill bit for a bench sync? I’m gonna give it one more shot at these carbs. LOL. The bike runs so good above idle, it’s got to be something simple with my hanging idle problem. I figure start from scratch. Thanks!

Re: Bench sync
Cannot/do not/will not recommend a drill bit to do this. Too easy to screw up the throttle plate. Go by how much the transfer hole is covered/uncovered under the throttle plate. Still only a starting point. You can't beat using carb stix or whatever sync tool you have to do this job.

Re: Bench sync
Someone here recommended having each plate cover half of the forward three holes in the throat base. Gets it close and doesn’t risk marring the throttle plates.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Re: Bench sync
Thanks y’all. It’s a long shot, but I’m hoping starting from scratch fixes the problem. It’ll be interesting to see where they’re at now.

Re: Bench sync
Easiest and best bench synch, if the carbs are off the bike:

Re: Bench sync
Thanks to everyone! I’m definitely going to do that this weekend. Thank Fogey for the write up. Absolutely points me in the right direction! For sure I have a problem between 1/3 carbs. Can’t wait! LOL

Re: Bench sync
My 1/3 carbs are the tuffies. The spring on the throttle shaft puts pressure towards opening so when I put the sync tool on the screw it pushes the throttle back toward closed. It points to worn linkage between the 1/3 throttle butterflies and the bellcrank. I can see the slop in the linkage but no idea where to find bushings to rectify it.
