GL1100 seat on a GL1200?

#1

Post by Oldmopars »

I have been stripping an 84 GL1200 down to a naked bike, and instead of finding a 1200 standard shelter, or trying to do something with the Aspencade shelter, I got a GL1100 shelter. Now I am wondering if I can use a GL1100 seat?
I am going to have to do something to make the 1200 seat fit the 1100 shelter, is the GL1100 rear mounts the same as the GL1200 rear mounts? My seat needs to be recovered, so I can either buy a cheap seat and recover it, or buy a decent original seat. Either way the cost will be about the same as recovering the GL1200 seat.

In fairness, In the stock position it was un comfortable for my long legs .
I moved it back a couple of inches beyond the normal full back position, and raised the front of the seat about 7 inches, which made it much more comfortable for me. I also had to modify the shelter to make it all look better

The 1200 seat pan is a couple of inches longer than the 1100 ....
