Exhaust Muffler Replacement
So I have two holes on my muffler on the bottom. I am going to put exhaust tape on for temporary repair but It has been hard to source a replacement. Stock was fine. Anywhere I can find a pair?

Re: Exhaust Muffler Replacement
If the holes are small and not visible then a repair could be possible with some Tech Steel compound which will fill and hold well on a muffler repair. Replacement is always nice when available if someone has a pair to offer you.

Re: Exhaust Muffler Replacement
Harley take-off mufflers are always a low-cost option. You'll need a pair of reducing flanges to make them fit the stock header pipes and a pair of brackets for hanging them from the passenger footpeg mounts. They look decent and sound really good. Nice mufflers can be had for next to nothing...or even nothing!

Re: Exhaust Muffler Replacement
Are they rust holes or are they the drain holes from the factory? I ask since you mention only two holes.

Re: Exhaust Muffler Replacement
Andorragl he is after 78.
78/79 OEM replacements are very rare. If you are doing a full restoration there are some around but expensive. If you are just looking for a riding set then I would definitely look for some Harley take offs. I have a left and right Honda OEM on my shelf but they would cost as much as some bikes for me to let go of.

I found a number of them. Is there a particular model that works well?tomk1960 wrote:Harley take-off mufflers are always a low-cost option. Early sportster. They won't have catalytic converters in them. Also look for one's without the crossover. Makes for a cleaner look.Funkdoctor wrote:I found a number of them. Re: Exhaust Muffler Replacement
I went with Emgo reverse megaphones. Dont run them lean like I did, blued up badly.
Probably will replace them with the same once I'm done carb tuning.
