Hi All In photo you should be able to see a hose wraped in silver trim, does this attach to the charcoal emissions canister? i have not got one but they are availble in germany and the USA, so if i just plug the hose with a cap will i upset the carb operation

I do not recall seeing a charcoal canister when I rebuilt my 1200 carbs. Really hard to see what you have in that picture. Unless that is collector for the vapor and oil breather system. In which case the collector is only meant to not allow that little bit of oil and vapor to drip on the road

This is the canister. My red 84 standard rack doesn't have the purge valve, with no threaded hole for a valve, while my black S has one.

Many thanks for the replys so my next question is do i have to get the canister or can i plug the hose or fit a cone filter as i have put this 1200 motor in a 76 gl1000 frame just to see if i could, this is the second set of 1200 carbs off ebay he first one had cracked caseings filled with mastic which as usual i did not notice it did run but rough so hence the second set hopefully these will be better once again many thanks

Make it a 49 state rack by plugging off all the hose ends @ the connections and remove the valve. Others have plugged the secondary air/e supply tubes at the heads and swear it runs much better...think I saw this on u-tube.
