Hey guys,

I need to decide which of these two seats to chop up for my custom seat project and need help identifying them. Is either of these more desirable to keep original?

Neither one is a stock GL seat so if that's what you're building you could use either one. Just use the most worn one. Or the one with the better pan/foam.

The larger one looks like maybe an original with aftermarket cover.

Well the gf prefers the larger one so i may keep that one as is then. The idea is to be able to swop to a stock seat if she goes with me on a longer trip.

Thanks for the input guys. I didn’t realize they were not oem. Their pans and mountings etc looks original and the foam certainly looks 45years old

The pans could be OEM. The one with the strap may be OEM but was recovered. The other could be oem and has been reshaped and recovered. But neither is a stock/original seat.

I hope you didn't get caught taking the electric knife out of the kitchen. :lol:
That is a tool that i may re purpose also.

I knew that wouldn't fly in our house - went to eBay to get a used one. Amazing how well they work on seat foam. BTW, if you need to refresh/replace some of the foam, carpet rebond padding works great, lasts well, and is cheap (often, no more than we need they will give it to you at the carpet store).
