Hello all!
I got the fuel pump changed out, so no more high octane oil! Now I have another problem. When I was cruising at highway speed, I tried to accelerate a bit, and it acted like it was starving for fuel. I managed to get home though. This morning I wanted to ride, stared up, and let warm up. When I gave her the trottle, she died. Stated back up, but when ever I give throttle, it now dies. I changed the fuel pump, all hoses, checked the fuel flow, all is well. Any ideas? There is no missing.
Thanks!

hi rrgrassi
is the bike vapour locking??
you can try putting a can of fuel above carb level+feed directly into the carbs via a tube(bypassing the pump)
this is gravity feeding...
start the bike+run.
if it runs ok,then there is a fault somewhere along the pump+pipework..
when you take off the fuel line+turn the petcock on,does the fuel run freely?
if not,open the fuel cap.
does it run freely now?
if yes, then the venting is clogged along the line, and possibly the fuel cap(they vent through the keyhole,i believe)
the hoses may look ok,but under loading, the slightest crack can cause this.may not be detectable to the naked eye.......
is the vaccuum advance system ok??
it sounds to me like one of there solutions may well be your answer...........
let us know of your progress my friend, and will swat up for more solutions
for you to try..............

Thanks for the info Bandanna!
I did not try the fuel cap test ot the petcock yet. All fuel and vacuum lines were replaced when I replaced the fuel pump. A guy here at work mentioned something about the air cut off valve. How would I test that along with the other great tips you gave me?
Thanks!

You have to check it for splitting or other damage, the bestrrgrassi wrote:Thanks for the info Bandanna!

way is to use compressed air to clean the by-pass channel
and the valve plate seat. Inspect the 2 larger O-rings and
the small one that fits in the by-pass oriface.

I'm not sure about GL1000 (I don't have some specification rather),rrgrassi wrote: Now, is there some sort of test I can do on the air cut off? I'm thinking of a way like we did to test vacuum choke pull offs on cars.
but on my GL1200 you can test it with a vacum pump.
