from serial #1000001-1011239 these early clutches had a damper plate installed near one end or the other of the clutch plate sequence...
the cure is to relocate the damper plate to the centre of the assembly......

Absolutely correct bandanna.I had that problem a couple of years back ,clutch chatter , clutch grabbing at a stand still while in gear. Could never select neutral while bike was running ,No matter how i adjusted the clutch it was never any good . PS. The damper plate in question is a thicker plate than the rest so is quite easy to pick from the rest .

Thats great Bandanna . I learn something everyday , and Thanks for the tip also , Alan . I wandered that myself where most times I could not put the bike in nuetral while running , but I was able to cure it by adjusting the clutch , I wandered if the took care of it by 82 ? Thanks again brothers .
