Found source of oil leak in weep hole - is water pump recoverable?
Well, the oil leaking out of the weep hole was likely due to damaged water pump seals rather than crush washers.
The seal for the ball bearings is toast, which probably caused the oil leak, and I haven't seen any form of circlip. Is this water pump recoverable/rebuildable or do I just buy a new one?
Water pump Oil pump. Will replace oil seal, but i assume this is still OK.

I'd confirm all the ball bearings are there too..looks like chunks of metal stuck to the oil pump seal.

I just replaced mine, bought an OEM pump along with OEM o-rings, crush washers, seals and gaskets from a guy on Ebay as a job lot. Came with everything you'll need for the replacement -

Knowing I had a leak I already bought the KP gasket kit, so I'll be looking for a pump only.

The pump is rebuildable, and 'kits' are available. It's a relatively easy job. Check out Wingovation website for a great how-to.

Sure wish I would have seen this before I paid $150 for a new Honda pump - that leaks. Still hopping it takes some running to set-in.Track T 2411 wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 10:05 am The pump is rebuildable, and 'kits' are available. It's a relatively easy job. It's been done before. Pinch/roll an 0-ring or even forget to install the crush washers.Lowrider Bud wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 8:34 amSure wish I would have seen this before I paid $150 for a new Honda pump - that leaks. Some aftermarket pumps came with the wrong size crush washers ...

Re: Found source of oil leak in weep hole - is water pump recoverable?
The leak is coolant (anti-freeze). It only drips a spot about the size of a dime, and only after it's been run for a couple of minutes (I'm still trying to get it to idle right). I steered away from an aftermarket pump after reading here that "you just need to bite the bullet and buy a Honda OEM pump." I was real careful with the reassembly so I don't think I ham-fisted putting it back together.
When I get it on the street, if it still leaks, I'll go back to that problem using the re-build kit discussed above. Till then, getting it running right (or even near right) is the priority.

The pump has ceramic faced seals, mine leaked till I put a few miles on it and it stopped.
