Finally bought a rear grab bar

#1

Post by wolf_walker78 »

From https://www.classicbikeracks.co.uk/prod ... ory/honda/

Couple months ago now, shipping cost and time was reasonable, it fit well enough and
is probably stronger and will likely outlast the original, whereever they have all gone.
I spent the better part of six months watching and asking online for one of these
and the only ones I ever found were significantly more money on ebay.
No affiliation, I think the guy is a small or one man outfit but it got here fine.
Photos attached, I think it was a buck twenty USD shipped.
Which still rather chapped my rear on a cheap old bike, but it's
done with now and I have somewhere to grab the heavy thing.

Now all I need is a fork badge that isn't a hundred bucks and a 78 only rear fender in decent shape...

I've seen several '78s with '79 tail light setups. This one with 78 turn signals. I just wonder if things were running low and Honda put what they had on them.

It's possible, I really wanted to run the earlier round blinkers and round-er tail light, only discovered it wouldn't bolt to my 79 fender when I was putting it together so I cobbled a temporary setup. Would like to get it finished up though.

Thats a great looking seat! Did you just recover the stock or is it an aftermarket one?

Recovered a stock one, think it's slightly earlier than 79(seat was missing when I got the bike), I really liked the look of them better. It's been awhile, I can't remember to be honest. But I bought a cover and recovered it yeah, it came out okay-enough for a rider. Not hard but tedious.

I do prefer the look of the bench style seat. I’m looking to find an old pan to build a new seat. My current set up has too much of a scoop so it pushes me too close to the tank.
