CYBORG down.....again

#1

Post by CYBORG »

On the way to the Gilmore show, here in Mi., did a slow speed laydown . Broke a mirror, (Italian), foot peg, (old school custom), bent the top of the voltage gauge, (sport comp), And destroyed the windshield, (custom Gustafson) ($200). But no leaks so I went on to the show. First time I ever saw a wrecked bike in a custom show. :IDTS: I was going to ride it to vintage days,...... but guess the 1200 will have to do. 4th time I have had to rebuild this thing. But I guess 4 laydowns in 43 years, and 500k miles, can be considered acceptable.   . I'm o.k. sore and bruised, but at my age I bruise pretty easy. Probably be sore for another day or so. Probably a few folks might be interested, so I mentioned it here.

Was riding with a friend. He motioned me to pull over. He followed me to the side of the road, and pulled up on my right side. Very close on my right side, and the crown on the side of the road was not in my favor, Caught my leg as put it down, and missed the ground...... until the bike went down and I was laying on my back. Slow reflexes I guess. But at 75, 76 at the end of this month, I'm not as quick as I once was

Glad you’re in as good a shape as you sound. Probably more than a few of us that would like you to stay healthy to keep sharing your experiences.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

well, thanks for that. I'll do what I can. But experiences seem fewer, and farther between. Just have to see what the universe has to offer

Glad you are only mildly irritated, Doug. As for the Gustafson windshield, I had an unpleasant experience with that company once, but I won’t get into it here.

Cyborg, glad you’re ok, I had nearly the same experience a few years ago on my 2014 fjr in Erie Pa. on the way home from my sons in NH. Off camber road, misty rain, something slick like oil/antifreeze and down I went. Severe wrist sprain, couple of cracked ribs, it was a very long ride home to Indiana. Glad you’re ok !
