The front end will go pretty easy, but I think you will need to have the 1200 rear end to do the rear wheel.

The headers will most likely go on, as they didn’t seem to change the outlet on the pipes, but what are you hooking the headers onto?

I made some mid pipes for the ones I have now. The headers are shot. Holes rusted everywhere and it’s so thin there’s not a lot of material there to work with. I was going to make new ones but came across the 86 ones so it would be a cheaper way to go.

I can probably get the drive assembly too. Is the 86 a higher ratio?

If I recall correctly, the 81 was a 3.10 ratio, and the 86 was a 2.83. I don’t think it is an easy switch between the 1100, and 1200 rear end….but possibly easier than going from a 1000 to 1100.

That would be an improvement. This thing seems wound out pretty good when I’m going down the interstate at 75 mph

She’ll certainly hold it. You might find that the 1200 ratio isn’t to your liking….but I don’t have a way to know that personally yet, as mine are a mix of 1000 and 1200 parts.

All GLs seem to rev to high. It's the way Honda designed them.

Guess I better start winding it out more. I’ve been lugging it around like a v-twin. In the lower gears that is.
