#1

Post by rdway60 »

Hey All, getting my swingarm ready for the powdercoaters here in Ohio. I went to Shop Talk/Old Fogey how to(no pics) and think i can get them removed. So what parts are still available? I'll need both bearings for sure. Are the #5 pivot thrust bushings available by chance? It also looks like i'll need to remove/replace #9 also. ImageI'll wait for some answers before i start tappin. Great site btw!

Some of those parts are NLA from what I recall. I think Old Fogey did reproduce the thrust bearings a number of years ago and those maybe gone now from him. I would inspect all parts first and only replace what is needed. Be guided by what the parts fiche notes are still available.
In most cases the cage bearings can be cleaned and the bearing races may also be in decent shape, so inspect and determine from there.
You haven't indicated your location, which can also help with sourcing parts from sources such as CMS in Holland or David Silver Spares in the US and Britain. These suppliers are good options sometimes when Mother Honda has long since stopped carrying these old parts.

I made thrust bushes for mine out of brass on the lathe (mine only had one when I bought it). Phenolic would have been what was originally used, I think, but any firm bearing material like Delrin or brass should do.

If online Honda parts sellers show prices in the lists, they can get them.
