I removed the 7 volt regulator from my ‘75 GL and tested it according to procedure listed in the Honda shop manual. Instead of 7 volts my regulator tests at 5.5 volts. Does the 1.5 volt difference mean that it needs replacing? My fuel gauge sender also does not ohm out to the shop manual specs so I figure that it also needs replacing. I did clean it and check the connections as listed on one of the Gold Wing information pages. Is there a good source for both of these parts if they need to need replaced.
Thank You!

Re: 7 Volt Regulator
I bought my 7 volt regulator from Murray’s Carbs. It’s a modern piece with solid state components.

Re: 7 Volt Regulator
goldwingdocs.com sells a great solid state 7v regulator for around 30 bucks.
I understand that most times they fail by sending out 12v, which max's out both gauges.
As for the sending unit, I dunno. But others who know better than me should be along shortly.

Re: 7 Volt Regulator
If the 7-volt regulator output is off either way, the gauges will be off in that direction.

Re: 7 Volt Regulator
The one from Murray is only $20. If you tell him you want to use it in a GL1000 he will send one with the correct connectors.

Re: 7 Volt Regulator
I placed an order for the unit from Murray, it should arrive early next week. I also cleaned and tested the fuel sending unit. My next project is to rmove the temp sensor and test it as described in the shop manual.
