#1

Post by robbie202 »

planning on replacing the coils on my '77 build.
the D8EA's that i have are threaded terminal, but the spark plug wires i have are the regular automotive stud terminal.
what spark plug boots should i buy to fit the threaded studs?

I have the same situation. I just went to the auto store and got a set of molded wires with the right ends on them. Shortening as needed on the coil side. Don't recall the item number, but can look next time I'm in the shop if you need me to

If you use NGK brand, you need to file down the raised logo so they’ll fit in the waterproof covers.

The NGK spark plug caps are identified as XD05F. (102 degrees angle for a GL1000 )
You may have better luck calling around to your local auto parts looking for NGK 's part number, 8072.

NAPA has them listed in their parts system as Part #: NGW 8072. Yes. NGW 8072.

Another solution is to find sparkplugs that have the screw on wire connectors. Remove the tip, and screw it onto the NGK plugs that you use. That converts it to the automotive type connector

I have as well. But would like to find a source for just the ends. Right now I have a small amount taken off of plugs, but need to change them out when I change to different plugs in my bikes.

Me, too!
I had wondered if those 'aluminum?' Terminal Nuts, that came along with the genuine Dynatek spark plug wires, had a part number.
They are always loose on the NGK sparkplugs in my trike's engine, though.
After googling around for a part number of Terminal Nuts hopefully worth buying, I located this:

NGK Spark Plug Terminal Nut (145-48)

depending upon how greedy the seller is, I've discovered presently these oem NGK Terminal Nuts range from 49 cents :-D , to 6+ dollars each.

I have had them get a little loose as well' But I squeeze them a bit with a side cutters, and that solves that problem. I never throw away anything, and had a coffee can full of old ones. Some which came with removable ends. I think they were mostly champion plugs. I would gladly pay a fair price for about 8 or so, new or used.

DENSO Spark Plug Terminal Nuts. Even with $7 shipping, that's a decent price for 10 pcs

Another source for the same item. approximately same shipping charges.

my local auto store is rubbish. i buy oil there and that's about it.
its a run down shop in a run down part of town. i asked for a tachometer once and the clerk didn't know what one was.
if you come across that number i wouldn't mind having it on hand though!

I purchased a pair of NGK 90 degree non-resistor caps from an ebay vendor recently for $9.49 free ship. Needed for a Triumph rescue and since there seems to be a dwindling supply of NGK non-resistor plugs, decided setting up for resistor plugs would be wise. Plenty of online NGK non-resistor plugs, but also seems many are counterfeit. How to tell for sure?
