if the resistor plug filters out radio interference but will still run in the bike i might try a set since the motogadget is bluetooth?pidjones wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 1:18 pm I purchased a pair of NGK 90 degree non-resistor caps from an ebay vendor recently for $9.49 free ship. Needed for a Triumph rescue and since there seems to be a dwindling supply of NGK non-resistor plugs, decided setting up for resistor plugs would be wise. Plenty of online NGK non-resistor plugs, but also seems many are counterfeit. How to tell for sure?

Re: what boot for D8EA?
Don't see how they would work with a boot. Ring connector would work, but then I would worry about them getting wet, and shorting out. Unless you don't ride in the rainrobbie202 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 11:18 am maybe these?

Go back to my post, #11. Can't locate any NGK spark plug caps? Spark plug Terminal Nuts are the answer.robbie202 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 11:18 am maybe these?

Hopefully, you haven't cut off your wires' crimp-on sparkplug terminals .
Order up some Sparkplug Terminal Nuts. There's two source links in post #11.
No, I haven't found those Terminal Nuts available, anywhere, other than on-line sources. NGK and Denso Terminal Nuts are identical.
Here's screen shot views of their physical appearance.
Note: I found both of those sources in post #11 charge approximately $7.00 for shipping.

Re: what boot for D8EA?
ordered some of the nuts and the bolt-on ring terminals too. also a possible alternative plug DCPR8E?
its a 12mm 3/4" plug with a heat index of 8 so it should fit...but it is a resistor plug. i'm using the Dyna-S and the Dyna coils too. not sure if this plug will mess something up.

cfairweather had posted this sparkplug and ignition wires alternatives list in his DC1-1 Coils Install document
simply install the Terminal Nut onto a correct specifications sparkplug and you are good to go with a typical push on automotive spark plug wire. Bolt-on ring terminals ? No. Just No.
A Dyna S and Dyna coils don't care what they are pushing high tension sparklies into.
cfairweather wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 10:33 am
If you are using the Dynatek DW-200 spark plug wires you should use resistor type spark plugs. If you use 7mm wires with copper stranded wire inside and with original caps or NGK XD05F caps, you can use non-resistor spark plugs or resistor type spark plugs.
Non-Resistor type:
NGK D8EA ( aka NGK 2120 )
Denso X24ES-U ( aka Denso 4099 )
Resistor Type:
NGK DR8EA ( aka NGK #7162 )
Denso X24ESR-U ( aka Denso 4101 )

Re: what boot for D8EA?
Just don't use both resistor plugs AND caps. Also, avoid resistor (often graphite) wires.robbie202 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 11:16 amif the resistor plug filters out radio interference but will still run in the bike i might try a set since the motogadget is bluetooth?pidjones wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 1:18 pm I purchased a pair of NGK 90 degree non-resistor caps from an ebay vendor recently for $9.49 free ship. Re: what boot for D8EA?
using ACCEL silicone plus graphite RFI suppression wires as per the motogadget instructions.
mounting the m-unit on the electrical panel (left side of the faux tank) a little toward the rear to get some distance from the coils.

Re: what boot for D8EA?
Avoid resistor plugs, then. Check carefully to see if counterfeit (there are web pages). Counterfeit plugs can lead you down all sorts of false paths when troubleshooting.

What is the difference between the XD05F and the XB05F? They look the same, but both are hard to find right now. You can still get these from 4into1.com
