Swing Arm Installation problem....
OK, I followed along with all the wisdom available on the forum, and my swing arm has been completely disassembled, bearings replaced, and reassembled. Looked good till it came time to tighten the pivot bolts and lock nuts. I understand the two threads showing thing, I understand the 7 foot-pounds for the left pivot bolt, but when I tighten the lock nuts the pivot bolts move. How can I torque the lock nuts while using an Allen head socket to hold the pivot bolt? What am I missing here?

To do it by the book you need a crows foot box end wrench. Just make sure that the crows foot is 90 degrees offset to the torque wrench or it changes the torque value. Me I use a regular Box wrench and give it two good grunts.

Re: Swing Arm Installation problem....
I do this task by sight and feel because I think it gives you a more accurate adjustment. The goal is to adjust both bolts where they protrude exactly the same amount beyond the locknuts. They will be almost flat on both sides when you are done with maybe a thread or two sticking out. The swing arm should be able to to move freely, but not loose. When you raise the swing arm and then let go, it should not be stuck; it should be loose enough to come down on its own, but not fast. This test will ensure you have it working correctly. You should not only look at the bolts, but feel the bolts with your hands to ensure the same amount of the bolt head is sticking out on both sides. Each time you fine tune it, tighten the lock nut and check again until you have both sides the same and the swing arm is able to slowly drop down on its own. When you have it just right, torque the locknuts to the manual specifications but don't worry about torqueing the bolt. Test once more, just to make sure it is correct.

Luigi,
Can you point me towards your source for the replacement Swingarm bearings? I’ve found several suppliers recommended on this site, but every link provided seems to be dead, not sure where to go next.
Thanks in advance.
