Driveshaft Circlip Size

#1

Post by milesoffun »

Hi!

I managed to break the circlip that holds the driveshaft "together". I did get it out though :-D

I can't seem to find it on the fiche - maybe it's called something else. Regardless, can someone let me know the size I need and a possible source for replacement.

The bike is a 1980 GL1100.

Thanks!

It's good practice to always renew circlips like that. Internal circlips are not so bad being under comprssion, but external have to stretch quite a bit to fit.

There are two of them on that shaft. the coupler on the other end is held on with one as well. might change them both if you had it apart

Please make sure you use an external circlip. My Hunley build had two internal clips stretched onto it (both ends). It was a real trick getting them off!
