Great minds think alike, I reset the speedo by re-rolling the tire, but the real difference was in acceleration and the fact it was still pulling through 100s. Also, I use calimoto GPS, which matched the speed exactly.

CYBORG wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 1:39 pm Sound is part of the gasoline powered driving experience. Proof is in the fact that aftermarket companies are making electronic add-ons for electric cars that sound like exhaust pipes. And you can pick how you want them to sound. When Harley's go electric, and they will, I wonder what they will be made to sound like. But my guess is, they will be fast if the already existing Honda's are any example
I think this is an interesting take Cyborg. And I have a CB550 '74 that I'm rebuilding now and had considered putting in an electric motor, thinking they may outlaw/phase out/price out fossil fuels before my riding days are over (I'm 53). Crazy to think that, but how crazy is it that it crossed my mind to begin with...?

It'll be a sad day if me or a future owner can't find gas someday for this amazing Gl1100. Many folks think that'll never happen. Hope they're right.

fuel may get expensive, but I doubt it will fade away in my life time. Or as long as there are airplanes, ....and oil companies

I agree with Cyborg ! I don’t believe that fuel/gas will go away in our lifetime, maybe our kids but not ours. And the deeper they get into the EV and discover all the issues associated with them like the mining pollution and no ability to recycle lithium batteries and then throw in that the power grid does not have the ability to support any real EV presence and I believe that real EV are in the distant future. Not even considering the political aspect.

I have a friend that is an engineer that works for one of the current major lithium ion battery producers and some of the things he’s told me suggests that this all may just be a passing fad in its current configuration. Battery fire is one of his major concerns,,,,, no thanks!
