Good 'nuff. What's Your plan now?
I believe you have sorted out the ignition. tumb2
Carburetors will require attention, too. Remove, thoroughly clean, thoroughly inspect and correctly rebuild.

Now I plan on rebuilding. But it'll be awhile to afford the kits to rebuild. Amazon has a kit with rings for like 175. But I don't know if I wanna trust it from Amazon ya know. And I can't just get a piston ring set take the motor apart without needing gaskets for the block an other stuff that's needed to take out the way. Or is it just head gaskets that need replaced. I really feel like at this point the motor needs rebuilt considering it sat for a very long time before I got it. An it has like 45k miles on it it needs a freshen up I think.

At 45K miles the rings just got set. So just do the heads and stay out of the block. If you find the block needs something, then find a donor engine as that is both faster and less expensive. Lots of donor motors out there.

ShopTalk has the answer :-D https://ngwclub.com/forum/page/ST

Do take time and read and study the cylinder head details.

Other fellows can give you Best Practice recommendations, based on their first-hand experience with a GL1000 cylinder head refurbishment.

3 out of 4 have 0 compression.... Interesting !
So... when you put your finger over the spark plug hole and crank the engine, you feel absolutely nothing ?

Have you tried a simple leak down test?
1. loosen the valve adjusters to close the valves entirely on their seats.
2. Make sures that both valves are closed.
3. pump compressed air into the cylinder thru the spark plug hole.
4. Listen for escaping air.
5. the sound of air coming out of the exhaust means exhaust valve isn't sealing. The sound of air coming out of the carburetor means that the intake valve isn't sealing. The sound of air coming out of the crankcase means the rings are not sealing.

A pretty simple diagnostic test to let you know what needs to be fixed before tearing the engine apart.

Yes. Pretty much. Take your time, learn how to use an appropriately sized valve spring compressor tool and learn as you go. Pictures, too!!
