Lol I had only used mineral spirits because well didn't want to use water. An it was the only thing I had extra of laying around lol.

not to argue, but I have done that test on many goldwing heads and have not had a leak. Could be the valve is slkightly bent, or the valve is not correct. They should not leak even a little

Agreed, they should not leak even a little, if a liquid under no pressure can get by the valve then the air/fuel mixture under high pressure will bypass it. This will give you a backfire and low compression on those cylinders.

So what your saying is I probably be better off getting a set of new valves then.

Although my GL1000 engine has never required internal repairs, I believe that is the best course of action for you to employ now. Ask for advice from other fellows that have been procuring cylinder head repair items for their GL 1000 projects.

Just an update been to busy with work haven't had time or remembered to order the new valves I'm going with the set from goldwingparts.com has anyone ordered from there before. Any thoughts

Float valve assemblies? Are they OEM? I will not use anything but OEM float valve assemblies. Too many issues with aftermarket valves.

Nvm an it's a set in intake an exhaust valves. Not the float valves

They arelike toilet tank valves. They let gas in when the carb bowls are empty. And shut off the fuel when the bowls fill up

Just an update finally ordered my valves should be here Friday. Got a set from k an L intake an exhaust so hopefully this weekend I can lap them an get them set

Got the valves in the mail just haven't had time to lap them an set them yet. Hopefully this Friday or Saturday
