Hello everyone. my partner found a new stator in the garage, no longer in the original box, but he can't remember if it was taken as a spare for the GL 1000 or for the GL 1200. do they have the same stator? are there any differences? how is it possible to understand? luckily we don't need it at the moment, but it was just to put a nice label on it and know what we have in the garage.
thank you in advance

Re: Stator
Paloa,
There are a number of different stator parts and likely not interchangeable, given the part number changes. The GL1000 is part # 31100-371-003, while the GL1200 Standard 1984 year only, uses a 31120-MG9-325 stator which is unique to this bike.
The GL1200 Interstate (31120-ML8-305) and Aspencade ( 31120-MG9-681) use a different higher output unit, given all the extra electrical demands on those models. So it isn't so simple on the GL1200 models with 3 different options. While the mounting points maybe the same on the different models, there are clearly differences between them.
An internet search of ebay or another site may offer a visual picture to determine which one you have in stock.

Re: Stator
thanks flyin900, for the reply, I was able to check online, they are aesthetically identical, a part on the wires changes which in the stator we have is plastic, while in that of the 1200 it is metal

Re: Stator
The stator of the fuel injected 1985 GL1200 Limited Edition and the 1986 SEi are dimensionally bigger than all other models.
